We had just moved to Sioux Falls from a different state and knew no one in the area. We had just finished breaking down some of our moving boxes in our garage on our very first weekend in our new house when we saw two ladies walk up our driveway. They introduced themselves as representatives from St. Katharine Drexel Parish, a new Catholic parish in our area. They were part of a door-to-door campaign and said they were trying to get a feel for how many Catholic families were in the area. The ladies asked if we were committed to a parish yet, since St. Katharine Drexel Parish was just starting and would be building a new church in the area. We were very excited after visiting with them and asking lots of questions since we hadn't visited area churches yet. The ladies were so nice and helpful that we decided to give St. Katharine Drexel Parish a try. We were convinced that Fr. Joe couldn't possibly live up to all the wonderful things they had said, so we had to check it out for ourselves. After listening to Fr. Joe, though, we were sold and we became members within weeks of moving here and have never looked back! The spirit of the parish staff and members of the church is so energized and welcoming that we really do feel that we've found our home here. And, the fact that the door-to-door campaign was happening that particular weekend was another sign for us that St. Katharine Drexel Parish is where we’re meant to be. I appreciated the knowledge, spirit, enthusiasm and time the ladies from the door-to-door campaign gave to FIND us! Whenever I see them at Mass I always make a point of saying hello and shaking their hands to this day.
