We would like to install a new playground surface at our school. Based on research, parent feedback, professional recommendations, and total cost, our goal is to remove all the pea gravel and replace it with new rubber mulch in the next two years (or as soon as possible). To date, the Playground Project Fund has raised $7,429 of the total $34,000 needed. If you are able to donate to the SKD Playground Fund, we would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions, please contact Sandy in the School Office at 275-6994 or

Beginning Wed., September 4th at 6:30 a.m., Fr. Tschakert will lead a group through a century-by-century review of the saintsThe saints are often regarded as some of the surest signs of God's activity in the world. All are invited to participate in this early morning group. It doesn't require any homework but does encourage attendance, reflection, and discussion.

Fr. Tschakert will also offer a study of the synoptic Gospels, beginning with Mark, on Wednesday and Thursday mornings following daily Mass. This study will require a tiny amount of homework, simply reading a section of the Gospels in preparation for class. In class, we will be using the most current edition of The New American Bible, but any Bible would be suitable for advanced reading. These groups will meet in Room 203 and will begin on Wed. & Thurs., September 4th & 5th.

An added feature for Religious Ed. this year is a class for adults, beginning on Wed., September 25th, meeting at both the early session (5:30 p.m.) and the late session (6:45 p.m.) I have some ideas to get us started but will be looking for guidance about what would be helpful. We will meet in the Gathering Space and all are welcome.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)
will start Thursday, September 26th for adults who wish to be baptized, for Catholics needing to be confirmed, or for those of other faith traditions to join the Catholic Church in Full Communion. Please contact Fr. Tschakert ( or 275-6870 x202) if you would like to be part of this process, or if you’d like to learn more about the teachings and practices of the Catholic faith.
