Pope Paul VI wrote in On Evangelization in the Modern World, “The Good News proclaimed by the witness of life sooner or later has to be proclaimed by the word of life. There is no true evangelization if the name, the teaching, the life, the promises, the kingdom, and the mystery of Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God are not proclaimed” (22). That is what the Door-to-Door Evangelization campaign is all about sharing our faith and extending an invitation to become a part of St. Katharine Drexel Parish. 50 teams of two were trained to go out to the 4500 households in our parish boundaries. Saturday, May 6th was our kick-off for the event. About 40 teams dispersed into the neighborhoods for two hours and gathered back together for lunch and to share stories.

In doing the visitations we have found many fallen away Catholics due to divorce, death, loss of faith, etc. and all they needed was the invitation to come back to the family of God. It is probably the first time anyone has asked them back since they left. Some comments were: “I’ve been waiting to be invited.”; “You just settled our question as to which parish to attend.”; “We had no idea there was a Catholic parish in this area.”
Now it is our ministry to reach out to these new people as we worship together each weekend.
